Tell the students that harmful behaviors have been taught and learned by previous generations and are still affecting the current generation. List on the board. (Some of these behaviors may be as follows: drugs, skipping school, violent behavior, smoking, abusing alcohol, sex outside of marriage, etc.)

  • Ask the students how these harmful behaviors are learned and list their answers on the board. (Some answers may be: TV, movies, news, peers, books, commercials, and relatives.)
  • Ask students why it is important to learn new behaviors. Explain to students that crime, violence, and disease are caused by harmful behaviors that have been learned in our society.
  • Tell students that we have the power to change these behaviors by learning new behaviors. The choice is ours. With new behaviors, we can avoid many mistakes and lead happier, healthier lives.
